Glasgow, Scotland — July 27, 2026. Jamaica’s track and field team launched its campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in spectacular fashion, winning two gold medals on day one at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow.

High Jump Men:
Romaine Beckford cleared 2.28m for victory in the men’s high jump, with another Jamaican, Raymond Richards 4th with 2.20m.

110m Hurdles Men:
Demario Prince gave Jamaica its second gold of the day, posting 13.17 to take the 110m hurdles final. His countryman Jerome Campbell was 6th with 13.86.

Women’s 800m:
Earlier in the afternoon session, Jamaica’s women advanced to Wednesday’s semi-finals in the 800m. Adele Tracey finished 4th with 2:02.58 in her heat, while Kelly-Ann Beckford finished 3rd in heat two with 2:01.63.

Men’s 100m:
Rohan Watson won his first-round heat with 10.13s (+1.5 m/s) to secure his spot in Tuesday’s semi-finals. Ackeem Blake automatically to the semi-finals after drawing a first-round bye.

Men’s Long Jump:
Former World Champion Tajay Gayle set the tone in the field events, dominating the men’s long jump qualification with 8.10m (+0.1 m/s) to lead all competitors into Wednesday’s final. Compatriot Jordan Turner joined Gayle in the final with of 7.84m (+4.2 m/s).
