Glasgow, Scotland – July 30, 2026.

Jamaica’s athletes experienced their best day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning four medals. Samantha Hall took pride of place as she struck gold, launching the discus 61.66m to win the event.

Three other Jamaican women also won medals. Megan Simmonds won silver in the 100m hurdles with 12.41, with Ackelia Smith (14.07m) and Shantae Foreman (13.96m) taking silver and bronze, respectively, in the triple jump.

Jamaica now has eight medals: four gold, two silver and two bronze.

Men’s 200m:
Christoper Taylor was never in danger as he won his semifinal in 20.20. Jevaughn Powell finished second in semifinal two with 20.24 to advance also. However, the event was not perfect for Jamaica as Roshawn Clarke hobbled off halfway the race in semifinal three, with an apparent injury.

400m Men:
Zandrion Barnes was third in semifinal one, posting 45.38. Delano Kennedy could only manage 5th in semifinal two with 46.62, while former world champion Antonio Watson was disqualified in the third semifinal.

Men’s Triple Jump:
Jamaica’s lone representative, Jordan Scott, was the top qualifier from the preliminary round with 16.56 (+2.5).

Men’s Javelin:
Elvis Graham managed 65.07m to finish 16th overall and did not advance.

Women’s 200m:
All three participants advanced to the final. National champion Alana Reid had to work all the way to finish second in semifinal one with 22.64. Ashanti Moore posted 22.49 for second in semifinal two and Lavanya Williams ran 22.71 for second in semifinal three.

800m Men:
National record holder Navasky Anderson ran hard in semifinal two to finish 4th in 1:45.38 which advanced him to the final.

Women’s 400m:
Dejanea Oakley confirmed her good form, posting 51.18 to win her semifinal. Leah Anderson was not at her best, posting only 54.15 in semifinal three for sixth position. Shana Kaye Anderson posted 52.87 which was not enough to get her into the final
