Jamaica did not get a medal on day one of the World Under 20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, but most of the athletes performed to expectation.

Mixed 4x400m relay:
Jamaica ran well throughout and were in a medal position until passed with 50m to go, finishing 4th in national junior record 3:18.78. The USA won with a championship record 3:15.31.

Men’s 100m
Day two promises to be exciting for Jamaica with three sprinters in the 100m finals. Gary Card won his semifinal in 10.16 and looks to have much in hand.

Women’s 100m
Shanoya Douglas won her semifinal in 11.21, and Theianna-Lee Terrelonge was second in hers, also in 11.21.

Women’s Discus:
Able Mills threw 53.37 to qualify for the final.
