The National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica will be the centre of attention for the JAAA Carifta Trials this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (March 1-3). Young athletes from across the island will be vying for one of the two coveted spots available per age group, per event, to represent Jamaica at the upcoming Carifta Games.

Competition Heats Up as Athletes Peak

With athletes nearing peak fitness, the atmosphere at the National Stadium is expected to be electric with excitement. The competition is open to athletes in two age groups:

  • Under 17: Born between 2008-2010
  • Under 20: Born between 2005-2009

Stepping Stone to ISSA Championships

The Carifta Trials serve as a crucial stepping stone to the prestigious ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships, which will take place later this month, from March 19-23, 2024.

Full Range of Events on Offer

The meet will feature a comprehensive range of junior track and field events, including:

  • Track: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, sprint hurdles, intermediate hurdles, and more
  • Field: Long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, javelin, and pole vault
