Jamaica’s medal tally at the IAAF World Championships jumped by fifty per cent on day seven. Jamaica now has six medals, two gold, three silver and a bronze. Shericka Jackson won bronze in a hotly contested 400m while Danielle Thomas-Dodd took silver in the Shot Put.

Thomas Dodd Jackson Jamaica picked up its third field events medal this championship when Thomas-Dodd launched the ball out to 19.47m to finish second. China’s Lijiao Dong posted 19.55m for gold.

Jackson ran like a lioness but could only manage third in one of the best races at the championships. She ran a personal best of 49.47 but was outdone by Salwa Nasar of Bahrain who won in 48.14, the fastest time for decades. Shanae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas was second with 48.37 in a memorable event.
