At least forty three Jamaicans will be in action at the NCAA Division One Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas from June 5-8. Only the United States have more participants.
NCAAAmong them, Natalliah Whyte, Kiara Grant and Junior athlete (18yrs old) Lanae-Tava Thomas (USC) have both qualified for the 100m. Thomas also goes in the 200m while Janeek Brown is favoured in the 100m hurdles after posting a fast 12.57. There is also Renae Mckenzie in the 400m hurdles, Shardia Lawrence in the Triple Jump with Shadae Lawrence and Shanice Love in the Discus where they are ranked first and third.
Raheem Chambers and Waseem Williams (10.11) will line up in the men’s 100m, Andre Ewers (20.14) in the 200m, Sean Bailey (45.19) in the 400m and Damion Thomas in the 110m hurdles. The Triple Jumping trio of Jordan Scott, Odaine Lewis and Obrien Wasome who have all gone further than 16m in the event, will go for 17m.
Many are expected to participate at the Jamaica Senior and Junior National Championships from June 20-23 at the National Stadium.
