The highly anticipated National Junior and Senior Championships were launched with much fanfare on Wednesday at Knutsford Court Hotel in Kingston. The event was carried live on Television Jamaica, which will have live coverage of the Championships from June 20 to 23.
The public was treated to information on participation, scheduling, entry fees etc. Deadline date for early entry is June 11 and late entries close at 4:00 pm on June 13.
Of course, the major track and field event involving Jamaicans will be the IAAF World Championships which take place in Doha, Qatar from Saturday, September 28 to Sunday, October 6.
Every athlete, junior or senior, who is desirous of representing Jamaica at the various meets will have to participate. The only athlete accorded a bye by the IAAF is Omar Mcleod, winner of the 110m hurdles in 2017.
The preliminaries of the 100m get underway on the first day, with the finals set for the second day, Friday, June 21. The finals of 400m, 200m and 110m hurdles will close the show on Sunday evening.
