Only double Olympic champions Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson are predicted to win individual gold medals for Jamaica at the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar, next month, according to Trackandfieldnews.com, arguably the most respectable magazine of the sport. Jamaican athletes are predicted to win 10 medals.

Mascot 2019 WCFraser-Pryce, who has posted 10.73 this year, should win the 100m for women while Thompson should take the 200m. Thompson, who beat Fraser-Pryce with 10.73 at the Jamaica National Championships in June, is slated for silver in the 100m.

The controversial Danielle Williams is predicted to get silver in the 100m hurdles after posting a world-leading 12.32. She may have to win the Diamond League to get a chance to participate after being disqualified at the National Championships.

Daniel Thomas-Dodd is the only other woman slated to win a medal, bronze in the shot put.

Jamaica’s women are favourites to win the 4x100m relay while finishing 2nd in the mile relay for a total of seven medals to that division.

Jamaican men are predicted to secure three medals. Fedrick Dacres is down for silver in the Discus, Tajay Gayle is slated for bronze in the Long Jump and the Sprint relays team is said to be good enough only for bronze.

Jamaica won four medals at the last edition of the World Championships in London, England; one gold and three bronze.
