Jamaican athletes had a good 3rd day at the Pan American Games in Peru.

Pride of place went to Shericka Jackson who took gold in the women’s 400m final in 50.73. She was clear of Mexico’s Paola Moran (51.02) and Courtney Okolo (51.22) of the USA.

Demish Gaye took silver in 44.94 as he was passed near the line by Colombia’s Anthony Zambrano (44.83). USA teenager Justin Robinson got bronze.

Kimberly Williamson scaled 1.84m for bronze in the high jump behind winner Levern Spencer of St Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda’s Priscilla Frederick. Both ladies cleared the bar at 1.87m.

Megan Tapper ran 13.01 for third behind Costa Rica’s Andrea Vargas who won in 12.82 with the USA’s Chanel Brissett 12.99. Yanique Thompson was fourth in 13.11.

Kemar Mowatt took bronze in the men’s 400m hurdles final with a time of 49.09. He finished behind Brazil’s Alison Alves dos Santos, who won gold in 48.45 and USA’s Amere Lattin, second in 48.98.

Rushell Clayton also finished third in the women’s equivalent.
