Well, there’s only one (1) final chance to qualify for the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys & Girls Championships. Here is it, week 11 in Jamaica’s Local Track and Field.
John Womler Speed Fest 1, 2, 4 – In Memory of Anthony McKnight from Wolmer’s
This year’s John Wolmer Speed Fest will honour the memory and legacy of Anthony McKnight who was instrumental in the timing and results of meets for many years. A fan and historian of Track and Field, Anthony appreciated the speed and fierceness of the competition. This year’s Speed Fest will be the final chance for the “speed demons” of high school track and field to hone their skills and perhaps select the individuals on a relay team before the deadline for event selection for Champs approaches.
As it is titled, the John Wolmer Speed Fest is just that, a meeting of speed-based events, without obstacles. On offer are the 100m, 200m, 400m, the 4x100m, and 4x400m relays. Each event is offered in classes and genders and has no limit on entries.
The schedule is another thing though, with the 100m, 200m and 400m staggered one after the other. So, if you have plans of doing 2 or all three events, please check the schedule to make sure it’s feasible.
Registration fees are $1000 per athlete and $2000 per relay. All the organisers ask is that there be no empty lanes where athletes were registered.
The action starts at the National Stadium at 1 pm for Juniors and 6:45 pm for Seniors.
Registration closes at 11:59 pm on March 15, 2023. Check out the meet site for more information.
