Trinidad and Tobago, April 19, 2025 – The 52nd edition of the Carifta Games is underway in Trinidad and Tobago, and after the first day of competition on April 19, Jamaica has established an early lead in the medal count.

According to the provisional medal table (below) at the end of Day 1, Jamaica sits comfortably atop the standings with a total of 20 medals, including 7 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze.

The Bahamas are currently in second place with 11 medals (6 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze), followed by the host nation, Trinidad and Tobago, and Grenada, both with 5 medals. Trinidad and Tobago’s haul includes 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze, while Grenada has secured 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.

Other countries featuring on the medal table after the first day include Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, and St Lucia, each with 3 medals. Barbados also has 3 medals, all of which are silver and bronze.

Competition is set to continue through Sunday, April 20, and conclude on Monday, April 21, promising more exciting performances from the region’s top young athletes.
