The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has issued an important bulletin for all athletes and coaches selected to participate in the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. The championship will run from September 13-21, 2025, with a team training camp scheduled in Tottori from September 1-10, 2025. This bulletin outlines key logistical details, including information on visa applications, travel reimbursements, and the required JAAA and World Athletics agreements. It also provides important deadlines and details regarding the team's arrival in Tokyo, the training camp, and accommodation at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel. Additionally, it contains specific information for personal coaches and female athletes, including the requirements for Extra Coach passes and gender testing. Please review all information carefully and adhere to the specified deadlines to ensure a smooth and successful participation in the championships.
  • Visas: Following the selection of the team, a request will be made to the relevant authorities in the country of departure for Tokyo to facilitate the issuance of official letters to support the visa application process for the selected individuals.
  • Repayment for Visa Application: The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has confirmed that funds allocated for reimbursement of the visa application expenses will be disbursed to athletes during the Camp.
  • All airline tickets, whether in hard copy or electronic format, must be submitted to the JAAA, along with the corresponding invoice. Reimbursement will be provided up to a maximum amount of United States Dollars Two Thousand Three Hundred and Thirty-Three (US$2,333).
  • Training Camp in Tottori, from September 1-10, 2025. Team members are required to fly into Haneda Airport, Tokyo, on September 1, 2025. Your arrival time at Haneda Airport must be communicated to the JAAA by 12:00 a.m. on August 26, 2025.
  • A limited number of Personal Coaches will be accommodated at the Training Camp in Tottori for USD$200 per day. This package will include accommodation and meals.
  • The Team will depart Tottori on September 10, 2025, for the World Championships Competition Village in Tokyo. The World Athletics Championships Village accommodation will be located at:
  • A limited number of Extra Coach passes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at a cost of United States Four Hundred Dollars (US400). All payments must be made before or upon entering the Village. The benefits will include the following:
    • Accreditation for the World Athletics Championships with access to the team seating in the Stadium
    • Access to the training areas
    • Access to the Championships transport system
    • Access to the team hotel
    • Access, with the corresponding special pass, to the Warm-up Area and Field Event Coaches seating.

Important Notice to Athletes

All athletes are required to depart the Shinagawa Prince Hotel (designated Athletes’ Village) within 48 hours following the conclusion of their final event.

Athletes' Agreements

All athletes selected to participate in the 2025 World Athletic Championships are required to complete and submit the following agreements by the specified deadlines:
  • World Athletics Athletes’ Agreement Athletes must sign and submit this agreement, which will be sent directly via email from World Athletics (directly via the same email address) back to World Athletics before Monday, September 1, 2025. Athletes who submit after 5.00 pm Jamaica time) September 1, 2025, will be excluded by World Athletics.
  • JAAA Athletes’ Agreement Athletes must sign and submit a copy of the JAAA Athletes’ Agreement to the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association at athleticsja@cwjamaica.com; no later than Saturday, August 24, 2025.

Shoe Control and Declaration

  • All athletes are reminded to comply with the Athletic Shoe Regulations.
  • Athletes are urged to verify their shoes in advance to avoid any issues on competition day.
  • Non-compliance may result in disqualification (DQ) or other sanctions, as outlined in the Regulations. It is therefore critical that athletes ensure their footwear meets the required standards.

Urgent note:

  • Failure to submit the signed copies of both agreements by the stated deadlines may result in disqualification from participation in the 2025 World Athletics Championships. Athletes whose airline tickets are being booked by the JAAA will be required to provide information regarding the city of departure to Tokyo and the city of return.
  • Gender Test - Female Athletes All female Athletes are required to undergo a Gender Test. The results MUST be submitted to World Athletics no later than 5:00 p.m. Jamaica Time, Monday, September 1, 2025. Further details will be provided.
