FREEPORT, BAHAMAS – Jamaica has once again proven its prowess on the regional stage, capturing the most individual gold medals at the NACAC Senior Championships held in Freeport, Bahamas, from August 15-17, 2025. While the United States secured the top spot on the overall medal table, the Jamaican contingent’s performance was marked by a series of dominant victories, highlighting the nation’s immense talent.

The team’s success was spearheaded by a number of standout performances. In the men’s events, Demario Prince led the charge, storming to gold in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.35 seconds. Field events also brought glory, with Fedrick Dacres throwing 65.10m to take gold in the discus, and Nikaoli Williams leaping to victory in the long jump with a mark of 8.16m.

On the women’s side, Jonielle Smith claimed the 100m title with a blistering 11.05s, while Nickisha Pryce delivered a stunning championship record in the 400m, winning in 49.95s. The Jamaican men’s 4x400m relay team also put on a show, securing a hard-fought gold with a time of 3:02.86.

Other notable medal-winning performances included Ryiem Forde’s silver in the men’s 100m, Christopher Taylor’s silver in the 200m, and the bronze medals won by Jahiem Stern in the men’s 110m hurdles and Tyrice Taylor in the men’s 800m.

While the United States secured more total medals, with a final count that surpassed all other nations, Jamaica’s focused excellence in key events was a clear talking point of the championships. The results underscore Jamaica’s depth in both track and field disciplines and serve as a promising indicator of future success as athletes continue their preparations for upcoming global competitions.
