Rosemarie Whyte is a late bloomer. If one leafs through any old Girls Championships programme one is unlikely to see her name amoung those predicted to excel in the 400m for Holmwood Technical High School. Her name became prominent and tongues started wagging when she burst on the scene while representing GC Foster College.
Rosemarie whyte2In short order, she was the Jamaican National Champion in 2008 posting a fast 50.05 and then finished 7th in the Beijing Olympiscs. Bronze in the 1600m relay was a just reward for a great season.
Unfortunately injuries stymied her progress, but consistency returned in the 2011 season making her a threat to the best.
Rosemarie is a quiet, unassuming yet powerful runner. Being quiet is not a disadvantage as long as you make a loud noise when the gun goes. Rosemarie is loudest then.
