The JAAA
The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) is the national governing body for athletics in Jamaica. The association has its headquarters in Kingston. The current president of the association is Garth Gayle JP. He was elected president in December 2020 in a landslide victory
The mission of the JAAA is to promote, develop and regulate athletics in Jamaica. We organise competitions and events in Jamaica for athletes who would otherwise have difficulties finding competition opportunities.
The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association plays a role in shaping the development of the sport of athletics in Jamaica.

Coaches & Officials Education
Through World Athletics (Formerly IAAF), the JAAA offers the opportunity for interested and qualified individuals to improve their craft and become WA Certified.
The programmes are the Coaches Education and Certification System (CECS), and the Technical Officials Education and Certification System (TOECS).

Coaches Education
& Certification System
(CECS)
The CECS has been revised since 2007 so,
from January 2016 the CECS features three levels of courses operating in seven languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Portuguese. For each course level, the IAAF provides a standard syllabus, qualified lecturers and the necessary learning support materials. Financial resources for the system come from WA and its Area Associations, Olympic Solidarity and other partners on the international and national levels, as well as self-funded options at the higher levels.
The 3 Levels offered are as follows;
- Level I Coach – U16
- Level II Coach – U20
- Level III Coach – 20+
Technical Official Education
& Certification System
(TOECS)
World Athletics states that the aim of the TOECS is to improve the level of officiating all over the world.
The TOECS offers 3 Levels as follows;
- Level I (NTO) – National Technical Official
- Level II Area (ITO) – Area International Technical Official
- Level III (ITO) – International Technical Official
