JAAA PUMA Development Series Week #2

The Jamaica Athletics Administration Association has received a permit from the Government of Jamaica, through the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development, to host Week 2 events on Saturday, February 19, 2022.

Two venues will be activated (G C Foster College 2.4, and the National Stadium 2.6). The National Stadium will be the first time for the series that we will accommodate Senior athletes. There will be strict enforcement of COVID 19 Protocols and all teams must have a certified COVID-19 Marshal.

ALL ATHLETES,  COACHES AND TEAM OFFICIALS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SERIES  MUST SIGN THE ATTACHED COVID-19 WAIVER.

Athletes under 18 years old must submit a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. The waiver can also be downloaded from the  JAAA website. (https://athleticsja.org/all-downloads/download-category/covid-19/) The signed waiver covers the athlete for the entire series and he/she only needs to submit it once.

Any athlete who does not sign the waiver will be disqualified in the official results as they would not have completed the registration process.

The Registration Portal will open on Thursday, February 10th and close Wednesday, February 16th* at 9:00 PM.

Prize Incentives for Seniors for 400m and Discus Throw  

  • 1st Place: JM$50,000 
  • 2nd Place: JM$30,000  
  • 3rd Place: JM$20,000  

Standards to receive Prize Incentive:

  • 400m Women 52.80 sec,
  • 400m Men 47.40 sec,
  • Discus Throw Men 57.00m,
  • Discus Throw Women 52.00m

Schedule

  • Session 1: 8:30am to 12:00pm  
  • Sanitization – 12:15pm to 1:00pm  
  • Session 2: 1:00pm to 5:00 pm  
  • Session 3: 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS: All teams must present a Temperature Log showing the temperature reading for each competitor for the last 5 days leading up to February 19th. They should show (but not hand over) a Contact Tracing List showing Full Name and Telephone Number for each member of the team including Staff and all teams must have at least 1 COVID-19 Marshal for every 20 athletes entered. The team’s COVID-19 Kit may be inspected upon arrival or during the course of the day.

ENTRY FEE: $500 per athlete. Once the athlete is entered on the portal and is not withdrawn before the changes deadline, the entry fee will be due even if the athlete does not compete. Each team will be billed $900 for any such athlete.  

NO SPECTATORS: Only team essential persons will be admitted. A maximum of 20 athletes will be allowed in any venue for each team. All teams must have a COVID-19 Marshal.  

CHANGES: The performance list will be posted on the JAAA Website on Wednesday, February 16th and changes are due by Thursday, February 17th at 4 pm. Submit the changes via email to  changes@jaaa.org.jm.  

TEAM TRANSPORT: All COVID-19 Protocols for Social Distancing must be observed when transporting athletes to and from the venue. Teams who breach this requirement will be sanctioned. Athletes should remain in team transport until the package is collected and armbands issued to each athlete. They will then disembark and be processed at the Check-Point. No gathering will be allowed at the entrance.  

COACHES MEETING: A brief coaches meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 17th at 8:00 pm via Zoom. The Meeting ID is 829 7610 7824 Passcode 717509. At this meeting, we will give any final information pertaining to the activities on Saturday.  

OFFICIAL RESULTS & QUERIES: We encourage coaches and team managers to always check the Online Results for each completed event while they are at the Competition site and make all queries at that time so that they can be resolved before the Competition is completed.  Queries for results after the competition can be sent to queries@jaaa.org.jm. Please provide as much details as is possible including Competitor number, Heat, Lane etc. Athletes who wish for their performances to be used in the Ranking System for ISSA Champs Qualification must compete under their school names. A performance under any other team name may not be included in the rankings.
