Vilma Charlton

Ms Vilma Charlton is a retired lecturer from the University of the West Indies, Institute of Education. She holds a Master of Arts in Education from Pepperdine University and a B.Sc. in Physical Education. During this period, she was listed in Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities, USA.

A published Co-Author, her academic work includes the implications of lifestyle issues on healthy living and physical education and track and field issues. More importantly, she has published an article on the challenges of teaching physical education in Jamaica.

Athletics Admin

Vilma serves as a World Athletics (formerly IAAF) Instructor and as an official in a wide range of various national track and field events. Vilma has had a career as an accomplished athlete with over a decade of active competition at the national, regional and international level, including representing Jamaica in, 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympics.

She is an inductee in the Hall of Fame at Pepperdine University in 2017. She has served as an executive of the JAAA through many administrations dating back to the 1980s and has accompanied several National Teams in a management capacity.
