Former long jump world champion Tajay Gayle is now the Commonwealth Games champion. He added another title to his name by capturing the event with a leap on 8.15m. His countryman Jordan Turner could only manage 9th with 7.65m.

Jamaica won its second medal of the day, when Lloydricia Cameron secured bronze in the shot put with 17.87m. Jamaica now has four medals overall in track and field, three gold and a bronze.

Women’s 200m:
Both women won their heats easily. Lavanya Williams won heat one with 22.91 while Alana Reid took heat two with 22.95.

Men’s 200m:
All three athletes advanced. Christopher Taylor ran 20.36 for second in heat one, while Roshawn Ckarke won heat six with 20.56. Jevaughn Powell ran a windy (+2.6) 20.28 to win heat seven.

Men’s 400mH:
Assinie Wilson advanced after finishing second in heat 3 with 49.19.

Women’s 400mH:
Both ladies showed up in spanking form to win their heats. Shannon Salmon took heat one with 55.30 and Sanique Walker went even faster in heat two with 54.83.

Women’s 800m:
Kelly-Ann Beckford ran 1:59.96 for 3rd in her semifinal and advanced to the final. However, Adelle Tracey was only 4th in her semifinal with 2:01.54 and failed to advance.
