September 11, 2026 – Jamaica picked up their first ever medal on the first day of the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest, Hungary, when they finished second behind the United Sates in the Mixed 4x100m relay. The historic quartet consisting of Ackeem Blake, Tina Clayton, Kadrian Goldson and Jonielle Smith stopped the clock at 39.72. The USA ran the second fastest time ever with 39.64. Great Britain in third.

400m women:

Nickisha Pryce ran 49.72 for second in semi-final one to advance the final. The other Jamaican, Stacey-Ann Williams, finished 5th in her semi-final and failed to advance.

100mh women:

Megan Simmonds posted 12.54 for fourth and a place in the final, while Ackera Nugent fell across the finish line and did not qualify with 12.81. Danielle Williams (12.82) was not at her best in semi-final two and finished out of the top four and missed qualification. Masai Russell won the final with 12.22 with Simmonds in 5th with 12.42.

110m men.

Orlando Bennett was Jamaica best performer, only finishing fifth in semi-final one with 13.29. Demario Prince finished 7th with 13.50. In semi-final two, Tyler Mason also finished 7th with 13.46. Unfortunately, none of the three made the final which was held later in the day.
