September 12, 2026. – Nickisha Pryce and Oblique Seville gave Jamaica two medals on day two of the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest. Jamaica now has three medals, two silver and a bronze. Drawn in lane nine in the Women’s 400m final, Pryce ran well to take third in 49.56. The race was won by Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic in 49.07 with Henriette Jaeger of Norway in second with 49.29.

The second medal, a silver, came from Seville who did not execute his usual great start in the final and paid for it in the end. Try as he might, he had to settle for second behind American Kenny Bednarek 9.85 to 9.90.

Women’s 400mh semis:

Russell Clayton ran 53.84 to finish 4th in semi-final one and get into the final. Sanique Walker posted a personal best 53.77 to get to advance in semi-final two. Shiann Salmon finished 8th in semi-final two with 56.35.

Women’s 100m semis:

Jamaica had five representatives in the event. Lavanya Williams continued her ascent with a good run of 11.02 for third in semi-final one to qualify for the final. Jodean Williams was fifth in 11.16. In semi-final two, Jonielle Smith ran second with 10.94 and Tina Clayton third with 10.98. Both advanced. Brianna Lyston ran 11.18 and failed to qualify.

Men’s 100m semis:

Oblique Seville easily ran 9.90 to win semi-final one. Ackeem Blake was not at his best and could only muster 10.21 for eight in semi-final two.

100m Women final:

Smith was fourth in 10.94, Clayton fifth in 10.94 and Williams seventh in 11.07. American Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the event with 10.62.
Jamaica’s lone representative in the long jump, Tajay Gayle, could only manage 7.90m and finished fifth.
