Eugene, USA – August 6, 2026

Jamaica won two silver medals in the 100m on day two of the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Firstly, Shanoya Douglas (11.17) was second best on the night to American Mia Maxwell who held her off to win in 11.14.

Moments later, Gary Card (10.05) could not improve on the colour of the medal as he too was beaten by an American, Tate Taylor, in a smart 9.94.

Women’s 400mH
Marria Crossfield finished 4th in her heat 58.22. Shevaughn Thomas was 2nd in her heat with 58.37. Both advanced.

Men’s 400mH:
Jahvanie Tyrell won his heat with 51.02, and Robert Miller was 2nd in his heat in 51.27.

Men’s high jump:
David Brown scaled 2.14 to qualify for the final.

Men’s Triple Jump:
Rekelme Hunter did not advance after posting 15.40m. Michael-Andre Edwards managed 16.00m to advance.

Women’s 400m:
Daniella Dixon did not advance to the final after she ran a fast first 200m in the semifinals and tired in the last 100m to finish 5th in 53.77. Her partner, Shameika McLean ran 54.24 for fourth and also failed to advance.

Men’s 400m
Jason Pitter ran a 46.50 and Jabari Matheson, a modest 47.10 in the semifinals. Both did not advance.

Mixed 4x100m relay:
Jamaica qualified for the final with 42.08.

Women’s Shot put/Discus:
Able Mills had a tough day as she did not register a mark in either the shot put or discus finals.
